About the North Bay Tribune

The North Bay Tribune is an independent online newspaper for Marin, Sonoma, Napa and Solano counties. Our parent company is Tribune Publications.

We cover the North Bay as a working place, not a postcard: county supervisors and city councils, housing and land use, SMART and the highways, wildfire recovery, the wine economy, jobs and the bay shoreline. We cover a planning commission with the same care we give a harvest.

Our standards follow the tradition of the Society of Professional Journalists' Code of Ethics: seek truth and report it, minimize harm, act independently, and be accountable and transparent.

We keep news and opinion strictly separate. Reporters report; they do not take positions on the matters they cover. Opinion pieces are labeled as opinion and signed by their authors.

We answer to no interest but our readers. Send us news tips, tell us what we missed, and hold us to these promises, loudly, when we fall short.
